Hi sweet friends! Newlywed Husband is still super-duper sicky, so I'm staying at home again today to take care of him (and avoid spreading the evil virus around my office :)

Happy 1 Year!

Today is the Adventurous Newlywed's 1 Year Anniversary! Not our wedding anniversary, of course (that's September 12th, we are accepting early gifts :). Instead, 1 year ago today is the day Newlywed Husband and I met for the first time ever!

Love at first sight? Did I believe in it before I met Newlywed Husband? Nope. Do I believe in it now? HECK YES I DO!

So what wildly romantic thing did we do to celebrate the day that changed our lives forever? Ummm, does spending 5 hours in the emergency room at Baylor Medical Center Dallas count?

Newlywed Husband has had flu-like symptoms since Friday afternoon, but they have gotten progressively worse, forcing us to resort to seeking medical assistance. The Doc-in-a-Box (aka: urgent care facility) had a 2 1/2 hour wait, so we just headed to the ER. (No, I did not see any doctor's that looked remotely like McSteamy, McDreamy, or Karev. Sigh...).

After 5 hours, about 20 tests, an IV of re-hydrating fluids, the crazy guy in the hallway screaming obscenities for no less than 30 minutes straight...we finally received a very inconclusive diagnosis.

Newlywed Husband apparently has a virus. Unlike an antibacterial infection, the only thing they can do is wait until the virus it works its way throught his system. Ugh. Poor guy, he's spent the past 2 1/2 days in the fetal position on the couch while this danged virus 'works through his system'. That virus and I are going to have a serious come to Jesus meetin' if this lasts much longer, I've about had enough of this torture being inflicted on my poor husband!

In sickness, and in health. I'm still madly in love with this man.

Happy 1 year to us!

Jimmy Buffett - Outfit # 2

Option number 2...the plus of this outfit is that I already own the dress :)

Jimmy Buffett # 2

White Trash-Tastic...

Does anyone else kind of have a secret obsession with Dolly Parton?

And the Prize for Beating a Dead Horse Goes To...

Dear World-Wide Media Outlets,

Yes, I am aware that 23 year old swimming phenomenon Michael Phelps was photographed smoking pot.

I am also aware that:
  • He owned up to it.
  • He apologized for it.
  • He admitted that it set a bad example for the kids who look up to him.

Can we please move on and focus on THIS?

Thank you.
Love,
Newlywed Wife
(Oh, and by the way, I was a competitive swimmer for 5 1/2 years. Really, I could care less about what Michael Phelps chooses to do with his free time, as long as it is not physically endangering someone else. I'd much rather hear about him breaking another world record. Why don't you go back to reporting about Amy Winehouse, or someone who actually has a problem with very dangerous drugs?)
EDITED TO ADD: This is in no way meant to imply that I condone usage of any illegal drug. I've never even smoked a cigarette, let alone pot, or anything else. I simply think it's a bit ridiculous to focus so much energy and attention on something that is - in the grand scheme of things - pretty minor.
EDITED AGAIN TO ADD: This is even stupider than the world-wide media frenzy. (I know that 'stupider' isn't a word. I just felt like it fit this particular situation.)

Prince Caspian: Or, How I Stayed Up Entirely Too Late Last Night

Newlywed Husband has the flu - BOO! Poor guy, he has to go to work, there is way too much to get done (and I don't think they'd be ok with him taking off after he's only been there a month...)
He went to bed last night about 8:30, so I decided to stay up and watch The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. I read all 7 of the Narnia books as a child, and have probably re-read them at LEAST 5 or 6 times. They're so beautifully written, and have such a wonderful, inspiring message. (I'm guessing if you're into the Twilight/Harry Potter/exciting fiction craze, you'd probably love them).
I'm now totally addicted, and can't wait for the 3rd movie to come out... Prince Caspian was fantastic. I was still up watching it at 1:07am when Newlywed Hubby walked into the living room and said, "Will you please come to bed? Winston {our dog} is pacing around the bedroom waiting for you." Too sweet :)
Ben Barnes isn't bad on the eyes, either :)

Jimmy Buffett - What to Wear?

Now that we've secured the tickets {which are kick-butt awesome, by the way}, begins the real stress...what to wear to the concert???

My boss and his wife and their friends start tailgating about 10am (With about a gazillion other folks), so I've got to be cool and comfy ALL day! Newlywed husband is joining us as soon as he gets off work (6-ish?) and we DO live in Dallas...so it WILL be hot in April. I'd like to look at least halfway cute for NH when he gets there, so whatever I choose to wear must be comfortable, but also has to have a certain cute factor...

Here's my first option:
